WHAT IS CROSSFIT?

The CrossFit Program was developed to enhance an individual’s competency at all physical tasks. Our athletes are trained to perform successfully at multiple, diverse, and randomized physical challenges. This fitness is demanded of military and police personnel, firefighters, and many sports requiring total or complete physical prowess. CrossFit has proven effective in these arenas.

Our athletes are trained to bike, run, swim, and row at short, middle, and long distances guaranteeing exposure and competency in each of the three main metabolic pathways.

CrossFit Higher Ground programming is designed to be measurable, observable and repeatable. Anyone and everyone from all ages and athletic abilities can be an athlete at CrossFit Higher Ground.

Our program is unique in its ability for all movements to be scalable. CrossFit is more than just a fitness program. It’s a LIFESTYLE.

Our training methods provide the most effective tools for you to excel in anything and everything you do inside and outside the box through the ten general physical skills.

This is a common question, especially for women. Everyone’s genetic makeup reacts differently to all types of training.  CrossFit has grown tremendously over the past decade and has turned into a sport also known as the CrossFit Games. Men and Women training for the CrossFit Games take an entirely different approach on their everyday training/diet regime. This includes several workouts daily; therefore, their caloric intake is astronomical. This also applies to the Olympic level athletes, professional athletes or anyone training for a particular sport at an elite level.
Of course. CrossFit is a fitness program that has been proven to suit anyone and everyone at any age and athletic abilities who are looking for a way to make themselves better inside and outside the box! The beauty about the CrossFit programming is that it is scalable to fit each individual’s fitness capabilities.
An On-Ramp program is a course that teaches the foundational movements of CrossFit, including other skilled movements use to strengthen everyday activity. On-Ramp also teaches the CrossFit “lingo”, along with benchmark workouts and the significance of Hero WOD’s.

Our coaches provide a fitness experience that is fun and non-intimidating. This program puts everyone new together and allows them to interact with others who are also just getting started!

An On-Ramp program leaves each individual more educated on how to move their bodies safely, effectively, and efficiently.

An On-Ramp program will cover modifications for advanced movements so you will be more confident and capable of moving safely throughout day to day WOD’s.

Our On-Ramp program starts at the beginning of each month and lasts up to 3 weeks depending on the skill level of the individual. Our program is a total of 9 classes that will prepare you for future CrossFit group classes.

**The classes are MANDATORY for beginners especially to those who have chosen CrossFit as their first ever fitness program.

Cole’s passion for fitness and helping others has been taking to an entirely different level through coaching Crossfit. He continues to expand his knowledge in health and fitness while changing lives inside and outside the box!

Why did you become a CrossFit Instructor?
I became a CrossFit instructor 3 years ago, because I wanted to share the knowledge and passion that I have sought and gained, over the past 30 years of my life, for sports, fitness, and well-being. I believe that through my CrossFit training, strong positive mindset, and my ability to find and motivate the good in everyone I meet, I can be a great asset to CrossFit Higher Ground, and an even better mentor and coach to anyone who thinks that they “can’t.”

Why would someone want you to be their coach?
I was raised with the mindset that “2nd place is 1st loser!” There isn’t an ounce of quit or can’t in my body. My life motto is “You can, if you think you can.” All it takes is the “I can” thought, and
with positive motivation, that thought will become a reality. I have an innate ability to motivate the positive in people and find possibility in any and all situations. I know that everyone with
breath could use a little more positive, unfailing strength, and motivation. CrossFit is my platform for delivering and nurturing all that I believe is possible in myself and others.

What is your background?

– Graduated Waterkloof HS – Pretoria, SA 1995

– Multiple track records in HS for Track and Field in the 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1500m (some of which had not yet been broken in 2009)

– Graduated Sandy Creek HS – Peachtree City, GA 1996

– Georgia Southern University, Business Management – Statesboro, GA 1997-2000

– Coached GSU to final four, National Collegiate Rugby Championship – Statesboro, GA 1998

– Licensed Physical Trainer ACE 1999

– Placed 3rd in State, Middle Weight Division, Tennessee’s Strongest Man, Strongman Competition – Knoxville, TN 2005

– Played for and coached semi-pro, division 1 rugby team, Old White, to status of SEC, and on to final 8th position in the National Semi-pro Championship, Atlanta, GA 2008

– Level 1 CrossFit Instructor, Honolulu, Hawaii 2012

What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Honestly, I am never weak, I am always strong! If you forced me to try and find a weakness in myself, it would have to be my inability to accept defeat, and in my eyes that is the definition of strength.
